Maxine Joyce Martin, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away on January 7, 2014 at the Sanford Hospital, Mayville, North Dakota. Maxine Joyce Dick was born September 18, 1944 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Lewis and Mildred (Ortmann) Dick from Munich. She attended Munich High School, Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, Nebraska and then graduated from Mayville State University in Mayville, North Dakota in May of 1966. It was while she was in Mayville that she met the love of her life, Allan Martin. They married June 24, 1966. They spent their married life in Clifford community. Maxine loved to read and be with her friends and family. She also enjoyed riding in one of their classic cars with Allan and attending car shows. Teaching English and working as a school librarian was also important to her. During her career she taught in Northwood, Portland, Clifford-Galesburg and in Hope until she retired. Maxine is survived by her husband, Allan of Clifford, sons Corwyn (Melinda) Martin of Clifford, and Blair (Sarah) Martin of Moorhead; daughter Allissa (Carl) Bratager of Galesburg and her grandaughter Zoe Martin. Maxine also leaves her brother, Wesley (Lynelle) Dick, Fargo North Dakota and sister, Marlys (Roger) Hendrickson of Apple Valley, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM with a 6 PM Prayer Service on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Norman Lutheran Church in Clifford, ND. Burial: Clifford Cemetery, Clifford, ND.
