Richard "Bud" Aasen

Richard (Bud) Ole Aasen of Portland, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at his home. Bud was born in Weme, MN, to the parents of Ole and Ragna (Nelson) Aasen, January 26, 1930. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and attended country school near Weme. He was a member of Aurdal Lutheran Church. Bud married Laurene Eddy, June 16, 1951. They moved to Montana and Oregon before settling on the Amb Farm near Portland. He loved farming and was a good steward of the land for many years. In the winters he worked at the Mayville Pelleting Plant. Upon retiring from farming, they purchased a home in Portland. Bud always enjoyed hunting, tinkering and fixing things, working in the shop on projects, and keeping in touch with his family. Their years at Clearwater Lake were unique and so enjoyed by the whole family. After retiring from farming, summers were spent at the family farm in Weme, MN. Bud was a very gentle, kind, and caring man and a friend to all. Bud is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laurene. Three children, Pam (Mike) Oosterwijk, Forest River, ND, Steven (Cindy) Aasen, Kenosha, WI, and Lori (Harry) Perkerewicz, Fisher, MN. Eight grandchildren, Mark (Rochelle) McEvers, Devils Lake, ND, Jason (Terri) McEvers, Bismarck, ND, Jon (Erin) McEvers, Evergreen, CO, Jeremy (Betsey) Aasen, Thompson, ND, Jennifer (Adam Bohlman) Geatz, Thompson, ND, Stephanie (Adam) Gallant, Grand Forks, ND, Alisha Jo Larson, Dana Point, CA, and John Aasen, Kenosha, WI, and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kermit, sister Opal and niece, Carol Bright. Visitation: Will be on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 4 – 6 PM with a 6:00 PM Public Prayer Service at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the Church. Memorial Service: 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Aurdal Cemetery, Portland, ND.
