Marion M. Conrad

March 13, 1920 — December 3, 2013

Marion Maxine (Monson) Conrad of Fargo, ND, formerly of Page, ND passed away peacefully at age 93 surrounded by her loving family in Fargo, North Dakota on December 3, 2013. Marion was born March 13, 1920, to Clara and Clarence Monson of Prosper, North Dakota. She lived on a farm with her parents and attended a two-room country school in Prosper. Marion attended high school at NDAC Campus School until it closed in 1937. She then transferred and graduated from the Moorhead State College Campus School in 1939. On November 11, 1940, Marion was united in marriage to William (Bill) Conrad of Erie, North Dakota, at the Maple Sheyenne Church. She was also baptized and confirmed in the same church. They farmed at Page, North Dakota, where they raised their five daughters and one son: Bonnie, Karyn, Susan, Judy, Jim, and Jane. Marion was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page and active in community activities. She belonged to Royal Neighbors, Homemakers, Circle, Eastern Star Mecca Chapter #5 Past Matron for 50 years, Bonanza Belles, Christian Women’s Club, and the Cass County Women's Chorus. Marion was a wonderful cook and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe, cruises and spending the winters at her condo in Arizona. She loved watching the Minnesota Twins, polka dancers, and NDSU Bison football. Marion moved to Fargo in 1979. She lived in her own home with her son Jim until her death. You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl. After she moved to Fargo, she loved driving out to Page to see how the crops were doing, to have lunch at the Page Cafe, to attend church and to visit with old friends. Holidays and family celebrations were very important to Marion, especially the family Christmas gathering at her home every year. Marion will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her constant smile, her caring spirit and her loving heart. Marion is survived by her six children: Bonnie (Jim) Chan, Alexandria, MN; Karyn Chan, Phoenix, AZ; Susan (Curtis) Bring, Rochert, MN; Judy (Steve) Smith, Cottage Grove, MN; Jim Conrad, Fargo, ND; and Jane Conrad, Minneapolis, MN. 8 grandchildren: James Chan, Suzanne (Landry) Streich, Kathryn (Jason) Anderson, Sally (Tony) Mohl, Robert (Dee Ann) Chan, Thomas Chan, William (Joanna) Bring, and John (Jennifer) Bring. 11 great-grandchildren: Jack Koenen Mohl, Madilyn Mohl, Samuel, Kayla, and Nicholas Anderson, Alexander Chan, Carson, Preston, Cameron, Major and Emma Bring and several nieces and nephews. Marion was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents Clara and Clarence Monson, and her sister Dorothy (Monson) Lebus. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis Society. Visitation: Will be 10-11 AM on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page, ND.
