Dolores E. "Lolly" Conway

Dolores E. “Lolly” Conway “skipped through the gates of Heaven” peacefully in her sleep on July 6, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Highland, CA. Dolores was born on March 4, 1924 in Mayville, N.D. to Ole and Anne (Strand) Lande. She was raised on the family farm and after graduating from high school she left Mayville and eventually settled in California where she met and married Harold (Duke) Conway. They raised four children, Daniel (Cheryl) Conway, of Medford Oregon, Mike Conway of Boise, Idaho, Judi (Conway) Barkman of Highland, CA and Jeff Conway of Riverside, CA. She worked for the La Habra School District until her retirement. She is survived by her four children, her brothers Jerome (Marilyn) Lande, Lowell (Donna) Lande, Jim (Linda) Lande, and sister in law Delores Lande all of Mayville, and many nieces and nephews. In her retirement years she enjoyed many things – most of all her family and her trips to North Dakota and Lake Tahoe. Dolores has twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Duke, sister Adeline, brothers Erling, William and Orville, grandson Shane Barkman, and daughter-in-law Patty Conway. “Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die.” Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Memorial Service: 2:00 PM Friday, August 9, 2013 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel, Mayville, ND. Burial: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
