Dr. James M. Little, 83, of Perham, MN, formerly Mayville, ND died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo. Dr. James McNair Little was born in Mayville, North Dakota on May 6, 1930. He was the son of Dr. R.C. and Marion Little. He grew up in Mayville with his sister Audrey (Little) Williams and graduated from Mayville High School. As a boy, Jim was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and received his Eagle Scout Award. He was involved with founding the Boy Scout Wilderness Camp on Bad Axe Lake Minnesota. He earned his Bachelor’s degree and Medical Doctorate at the University of Minnesota. While attending medical school, he met the love of his life, Jean Lundahl. They were married in September, 1953. Dr. Jim served in the United States Air Force with the rank of Captain. He was the ranking Officer/Clinician at the Syracuse (NY) Air Force Clinic. Dr. Jim and Jean moved back to Mayville where he began practicing medicine with his father and Dr. LeFleur in the early 50’s. He also served as the Traill County Coroner for several years. He loved the communities and the people of Traill County, and was very proud to practice with his clinic partners, Dr. Ron Kloster, Dr. Del Hlavinka, and Dr. Glenn Thoreson, and the hard-working nurses and staff of Mayville Clinic and Hospital. Later in his career, he enjoyed working with new colleagues in MeritCare satellite clinics. Dr. Jim and Jean retired in 1990 and loved the lake and enjoyed having family around whenever possible. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Jean. Children: Kris (Doug) Black, Eden Prairie MN, Jamie Little, Reno NV, Barb (John) Fugleberg, West Fargo ND, Jody Little, Grand Forks ND, John Little, San Diego CA. Grandchildren: Leslie (Mike) Ingberg, Jeffrey (Alissa) Harris, Adam (Ruby) and Laura Fugleberg, and Jacob, Derek, and Sidney Osland. Great Grandchildren: Grace and Charles Ingberg, Carter Harris. Sister: Audrey (Doug) Williams, Grand Forks ND. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to Sanford Mayville Hospital. Visitation: 5-7 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2013 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Baker Funeral Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Friday, June 21, 2013 at Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND. Burial: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
