Solveig R. Hovland

Solveig R. Hovland, 86, of Mayville, ND, died Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Solveig was born the daughter of Gehard and Sophie (Huus) Braaten on Sept 15, 1926 in Hatton, ND. She graduated from Hatton High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Ray McClain Hovland on Nov 11, 1945. They lived in Hatton and later moved to Mayville. Solveig was the loving mother to Richard (Dickie) and Faye Hovland (Peterson). In addition to her mothering, she was a fixture at many local stores, including the Gambles, Coast to Coast and Super Value. Solveig was preceded in death by her son, Richard Hovland; husband, Ray Hovland who died on January 26, 2003; granddaughter Lori Ann Peterson; sister, Marjorie (Gilman) Aasen and brother-in-law, Ingolf Amb. She is survived by her daughter, Faye (Richard) Peterson of Mayville, ND; granddaughter, Kimberly (Gary) Rockwood of West Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Georgia and Gary; and sister, Eileen Amb of Portland, ND. Visitation: Will be on Monday, April 15, 2013 one hour prior to the service at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville. Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND. Burial: St. John Cemetery, Hatton, ND.
