Martin Iver Ingebretson

Martin I. Ingebretson, 71, of Mayville, ND, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Union Hospital in Mayville. Martin Iver Ingebretson was born August 13, 1936, in Mayville, the son of Roger and Amanda (Peterson) Ingebretson. He attended country school and later Mayville High School. On November 10, 1957, he married Irene Amundson at Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. The couple resided on a farm near Mayville. Martin farmed for 28 years. He graduated from the Reisch School of Auctioneering in 1967 and conducted numerous auctions throughout the area until November of 1993. The couple moved into Portland in 1989. Martin entered the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville in 1997 and has resided their since. Martin was a member of Mayville Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing and especially ice fishing. Martin also had a love of music; he played old time music on his accordion, and played with the “Happy Norwegians” band for many years. Martin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irene of Portland; one son, Marlin (Cindy) Ingebretson of Mayville; three daughters, Shirley (Arden) Rux of Portland, Lois (Todd) Erickson of Casselton, ND, and Elaine Hopkins of Flower Mound, TX; six grandchildren, Cory (Jenifer) and Brandon Palm, Jenaye and Jace Ingebretson, and Shawn and Alissa Erickson; two great grandchildren, Matthew and Jayden Palm; two step grandchildren, Erica (Brandon) Speidel and Benjamin Lunak; and one step great granddaughter, Ella Speidel. He is also survived by one brother, Ralph (Edith) Ingebretson of Mayville; one sister, Doris Cleven of Coppers Cove, TX; and one half brother, Neal Nelson of Fargo, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Chester Ingebretson and Kenneth Ingebretson; one sister, Gladys Nelson; and two brother-in-laws, Norman Nelson and Thomas Cleven. Service: 10 AM Friday at the Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville Visitation: Will be from 5-7PM Thursday at the Baker Funeral Home of Mayville Burial: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville
