Edward W. Blumer, 86, of Mayville ND, died on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Edward was born March 22, 1926, in Sanborn, ND, the son of Samuel and Martha (Tiesler) Blumer. He attended country school and continued his education in Valley City. He worked on the family farm near Alice, ND and did various construction jobs. Ed moved with his brother and mother to Kansas in the early 1950’s. He entered the US Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957 with the rank of Specialist Third Class. After returning to Huchinson, he and his brother Sam started Blumer Construction. He built roads and lived in Kansas for over 50 years. In 2009, he moved to Mayville, ND and has resided at the Luther Memorial Home since. Ed has always enjoyed taking walks in the outdoors, and in younger years, hunting. Lately, he enjoyed playing checkers and various games. Ed is preceded in death by his son: Darrin, parents, four sisters and five brothers. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel. Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND. Burial: Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Hutchinson, Kansas.
