William C. Baasch, 88, of Page, ND, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. William C. Baasch was born to David and Clara (Jungnitsch) in the house built by his father in Lake Township, rural Tower City, ND. He was born March 3, 1924. He attended Kelly School, rural Tower City, ND until the 8th grade. His freshman and sophomore year he attended Valley City High School living with his aunt and uncle George and Toots Holter. He graduated from Page High School in 1942. He joined the Navy in September 1942 and was stationed in Coco Solo Panama Canal Zone where he worked on ships and was assigned to a blacksmith shop. He was released from active duty in July 1945 where he returned to the farm north of Tower City, ND until retiring in 2010 when he could no longer climb into a tractor. He also did carpentry work in the area with his brothers John and Henry. He served on the Our Savior Lutheran Church council, Page school board for nine years and has been on the Lake Township Board many years, was a director for the Page Rural Fire District , Page American Legion member for 67 years and Life Member of the DAV. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Lorraine (Zerface) his children, Connie (Bruce) Hammond; Michael (Nan) Baasch; Lynette (Lynn) Kent; Donald (Lisa) Baasch; Kevin (Barb) Baasch; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, a sister Alice Winn; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Terry and six brothers and five sisters. Visitation: Will be on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 5 – 7 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Page, ND and will resume one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Friday, March 1, 2013 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Page, ND. Burial: Page City Cemetery
