Gerald E. Holm

Gerald Holm, 75, of Hope, ND, died Thursday, January 10, 2008, at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND. Gerald was born March 21, 1932 in Hope, ND, the son of Arba “Ercell” and Leone (Baker) Holm. He attended school and graduated from Hope High School. Gerald enlisted in the US Navy and served 20 years, active duty. He married Dolores Russ in Atlantic City, NJ, June 1, 1953. In 1970 he retired as a Chief Petty Officer. After his discharge he worked for the Civil Service in Philadelphia, PA shipyards. In 2000 he retired from Civil Service. Gerald moved to Hope in 2002, where he was currently residing. He married Maxine Pouget in Hope, November 13, 2006. Gerald loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and including Mrs. Swartz. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was known as a “handy man.” He is survived by two daughters, Georgann West of Norfolk, VA, and Geraldine (Lew Bonham) Derbyshire of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; five grandchildren, Anne Jones, William West, Scott (Lisa) Derbyshire, Thomas (Cheryl) Derbyshire, and Patrick Derbyshire; three great-grandchildren, Blaise, Elyse and Micah; three step-daughters, Marie, Becky and Marlene; four step-sons, Dennis, Brian, Ernie, and Gerard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leone in 1971, and Ercell in 2007; wife Delores in 2002; wife Maxine in 2007; son James A Holm in 1987; brother Arby A Holm in 1992; and an infant sister.
