Bertha Marie Skarison

Bertha Marie Skarison, 87, of Mayville, ND, passed away Friday, December 14, 2007, at Union Hospital in Mayville. Bertha was born July 28, 1920 to Peder and Clara Nyhus at Portland Junction, ND. She attended country school and graduated from Mayville High School. She married Howard Skarison on March 5, 1953. They resided in Mayville their entire lives. Howard passed away on July 15, 1988. Bertha was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She cooked at the Luther Memorial Home and Mayville State. She was an “Avon Lady” and sold “Watkins” products. She was a member of the VFW auxiliary and held many offices. She also was a member of the ladies guild at First American Lutheran Church, and the Mayville Senior Center. Bertha volunteered time with the Caring Club at Union Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Mary (Gregory) Ross of New Rockford, ND, and Betty (Kirk) Snyder of Lovell, WY; four grandchildren, Alan Snyder, Jessica Harris, Ryan Ross, and Candace Ross; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Palma (Wesley) Larson of Winona, MN; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Skarison of Mayville, ND and Hazel Nyhus of Portland, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Julie Claire in infancy, four sisters and two brothers. FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, December 17, 2007 at 11:00 AM at First American Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service at the church. BURIAL: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
