Lorraine D. Von Ruden

Lorraine Von Ruden, 76, of Portland, ND, died Sunday, December 2, 2007, at her home. Lorraine was born on September 23, 1931, at the home of her parents, Peter and Ovidia (Burud) Ensrud. She attended country school near Pekin and was a proud Pekin Panther graduate. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. She married Marvin Week on September 17, 1951 at Sheyenne Lutheran Church, rural Pekin. The couple moved to Mayville and owned and operated the Standard Service Station for decades. Lorraine continued to operate the station after Marvin passed away in 1976. Lorraine married Charles Von Ruden in Mayville on February 17, 1979. Lorraine and Chuck have lived in the Mayville-Portland area their entire married life. Lorraine was active in the VFW Auxiliary, Mayville Lutheran Church Circle, and enjoyed bowling, bridge, fishing, golfing, and deer hunting for many years. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Charles; son, Benjamin (Jessica) Week, Milford, OH; daughter Janna (Gary) Jensen, Devils Lake, ND; step-daughter Connie Bjerk, Grand Forks; sister Mayone Dalos, Fargo; brother Robert Ensrud, Mesa, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Aaron Bjerk, Grand Forks, Adam (Laura) Bjerk, Bemidji, MN; Jesse Jensen and Lucy Jensen, both Las Vegas; Jessica Bjerk, St. Cloud, MN; and Naomi and Theodore Week, Milford, OH. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM Friday, December 7, 2007 at Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. VISITATION: Thursday, December 6 2007 from 5-7 PM at Baker Funeral Home of Mayville and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. BURIAL: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
