John Merlin Twamley

May 1, 1984 — September 23, 2012

On May 1, 1984, the good Lord loaned Tom and Barb (Bauer) Twamley of Kennedy, MN a beautiful boy. John had a big sister, Sara, waiting for him at home. He was born with a sparkle in his eye and a heart melting smile and he never lost either during his lifetime. He was later joined by a little brother, Ivan and the two were inseparable buddies. When John was little he would help his dad by saying “are we gonna back up an hook up dad?” and then he would say “c’mon, Isan lets play”. John drove his first three wheeler at age 2 ½ and became Kitty Cat modified World Champion by age 7. He competed in many motorcycle, ATV and snowmobile races; amassing over 100 first place finishes in his youth. He was also a fisherman, catching his first catfish in the Red River with his grandpa: Don Giffen. John liked hunting and was a pretty good poet. John attended school in Kennedy, MN and later in Climax, MN and Buxton, ND. After completing high school he tried riding bulls. His family moved to the Buxton area in 1994, and soon after, he started helping local farmers with field work. One of John’s great passions was farming. He especially enjoyed combining corn. He was currently employed by the Rogenes and Rye Farms at the time the Lord called him home. John’s greatest love was a girl named Emily Austin. On March 14, 2009 John took her as his wife in Las Vegas, NV, in front of family and loved ones. On June 22, 2011, the Lord and Emily blessed John with a beautiful baby daughter, Fiona Isabelle, who has her father’s smile and the same sparkle in her eye. On September 23, 2012 the Lord called in his loan ~ taking his gift home, as He had use for John’s skills in Heaven. Interest is still being paid in tears and prayers. John touched all who knew him and will not be forgotten. In heaven, John will join his grandfathers: Donald Giffen and John Bauer; three uncles: Ivan, Merlin and David Twamley; and good friend: John Fortman. John will be dearly missed by his wife and daughter: Emily and Fiona Isabelle Twamley of Buxton, ND; parents: Tom and Barb Twamley of Buxton, ND; sister: Sara Twamley of Moorhead, MN; brother: Ivan Twamley of Buxton, ND; and grandparents: Dorothy (Wayne) Barber of Redwood Falls, MN and Jo Anne Bauer of Crookston, MN. Visitation: Will be on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 5 ~ 7 PM at the Baker Funeral Home in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Climax Lutheran Church in Climax, MN. Burial: Ringsaker Church Cemetery, at Belmont Park, Frog Point, rural Buxton, ND.
