Alice Geneva "Neva" Visby

Alice Geneva “Neva” Visby, 99, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Luther Memorial Home, in Mayville, ND. Neva was born January 6, 1913 at home, Baldwin Township Barnes County, Pillsbury, ND to Neil and Elizabeth (Sowden) McKay, the youngest of 13 children. She graduated from Baldwin High School where she played basketball and was an honor student. Neva married Vivien Visby on October 11, 1933, Hope, ND, and together they had 3 children. The couple farmed their entire life 5 miles east of Hope. They were lifelong members of Blabon Redeemer Lutheran Church. Neva belonged to the Helping Hand Club and WELCA. Vivien died in 1987 and Neva continued to live in their home in Hope until 1994 when she moved into an apartment. In 2009, Neva moved to the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Neva enjoyed playing the piano and spending time with her family. Neva is survived by 2 children, Betty Jo (Martin) Gray of Page, ND and Kaye (Loran) Severson of Hope; daughter-in-law, Marlys Visby of Hope; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vivien; son, Jerry; grandson, Scott Severson; and great grandson, Jordan Severson. Visitation: Will be on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 5 ~ 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope, ND and will resume one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope, ND. Burial: Hope Cemetery, Hope, ND. Arrangements are with Lindsey Carlson Funeral Home of Page, ND.
