Donald C. Evans, 82, of Mayville, ND died peacefully on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville surrounded by his family. Donnie was born March 12, 1930 in Mayville. His parents were Melvin and Dena (Peterson) Evans. He was baptized and confirmed in the Mayville Lutheran Church. He attended grade school in Mayville, graduated from Mayville High school in 1948, and attended Mayville State Teachers College. On June 19, 1953, he married Delores Holkesvig in the Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland. Donnie started farming at age 18 and was actively involved as long as he was able. He enjoyed his fishing trips with David and Neal and also with the Shriners. Donnie served on the Traill Rural Water board and on the Mayville Farmers Elevator Board. He was a member of the Goose River Masonic Lodge #19, the Kem Shrine Temple, the Scotish Rites, the Keystone Kops, and the Jesters. He was a recipient of the Master Mason Degree, the Distinguished Mason Award of Grand Lodge of ND, the KCCH Award, the Honorary 33rd Degree and the Samsar Award. He received the Kem Temple’s first Shriner of the Year Award and also the Masonic Grand Jewel of Solomon Award. He served as mentor for Goose River Lodge #19 from 1963-1994. He was Worshipful Master for the Goose River Lodge, the Housing Chairman for the Kem Shrine Temple, and the Membership Chairman for Kem Shrine. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Delores; daughter Kathleen (Steve) Baldock; sons Tim (Sheila) Evans, Andy (Sheri) Evans; daughter Kristine Evans (Brent Gilles); Grandchildren, Chad and Ryan Baldock, Amanda and Aaron Evans, Megan, Jordan and Joshua Evans. Preceeding him in death were two infant children, Larry and Rebecca; his parents; his brother, Marcus; and his nephew, Mark. Visitation: Will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 4:30 ~ 7 PM with a Masonic Service at 6:30 PM at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
