Claudine J. Thompson, 93, of Mayville, ND died Sunday, September 30, 2007, at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Claudine Josephine (Amb) Thompson was born Sept 17, 1914 to Martin and Marie (Haugen) Amb, Portland, ND. She graduated from Portland High School and earned a Standard Teaching Degree from Mayville State Teachers College. She taught in rural schools until her marriage to Ernest Thompson May 28, 1939. To that union six children were born. They farmed in Enger Township until 1974 and retired in Mayville, ND. Claudine grew up attending Aurdal Lutheran Church and after marriage was active in the Bang Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School and confirmation. In Mayville, she attended Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church where she was active in Circle. She led a Bible study at the Luther Memorial Home until 2006. Having a love of music, Claudine directed church choirs, organized Summer Singers for teens and for 71 years sang in a ladies trio. Claudine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was gifted with wonderful health and was dedicated to a lifetime of serving God and others. Claudine is survived by 4 daughters, Virginia Hase, Elk River, MN, Rebecca (Arlo) Thykeson, Snoqualmie, WA, Valborg (David) Egge, Alexandria, MN, Jan (Luther) Kvernen, Grand Forks, ND; 2 sons, Vernon Thompson, Portland, and Rodney (Connie) Thompson, Maple Valley, WA; 13 grandchildren, Suzanne (Harlan) Kragt, Todd (Dena) Hasz, Kimberly (Jerry) Matte, Keith (Stacy) Thykeson, Jeffrey (Jessica) Egge, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Jones, Jason Thompson, Darrin Thompson, Kent (Amy) Thompson, Zachary Thompson, Matthew (Laura) Kvernen, Andrew (Kristi) Kvernen and Krisanne (Paul) Emch; 25 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruda Hanson, Portland, Edna Cook, Ironton, Ohio, Murlene Marotzky, Portland; brother Alvin (Annie) Amb, Mayville; sisters-in-law DeLores Amb and Eileen Amb of Portland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Claudine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ernest, of 44 years in 1983 and son-in-law Marv Hase, two infant grandsons, sister Delores Amb and brothers Thomas and Ingolf Amb. Visitation: Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Baker Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM with service at 6:30 PM, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Funeral Service: at 10:30 AM Friday, October 5, 2007 at Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church, Pastor Randy Mortenson officiating, Mayville, ND. Burial: Bang Cemetery, rural Portland, ND.
