Mildred Marie Hanson

Mildred Marie Hanson, 91, of Mayville, ND died peacefully on Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Mildred was born August 25, 1920 to John and Sena (Nelson) Hella who were Lindaas township, Traill county residents. She attended Lindaas School and graduated from Mayville High School in 1938. She then attended Mayville State College and later was employed as a nurse at Union Hospital in Mayville and Hillsboro Community Hospital. She married Adolph Hanson on June 24, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. She was a leader in the local 4-H club and was active in the Gran Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, the American Legion Auxiliary, Goose River Heritage Museum and was especially proud to plan the annual Syttende Mai celebration at the Sons of Norway. As a homemaker, she was an avid gardener, fabulous cook and prolific quilter and knitter. Over the years she donated hundreds of quilts to missions, YWCA and her grandchildren. She loved the farm – growing flowers, canning and feeding the birds. Mildred is survived by her children: Shirley (Larry) Solberg of Fargo, ND, Joanne (Glen) Bye of Detroit Lakes, MN and Paul Hanson of Mayville, ND; her grandchildren: Erica (Jeff) Stevens of Minneapolis, MN, Sean Solberg of Berkeley, CA, Jason Bye of Fargo, ND, Brittany, Emily and Brady Hanson, all of Fargo, ND; her great-grandchildren: Maia and Michael Stevens. She was preceded in death by her husband: Adolph; parents; sister, Doris Rabenberg and brother, Alvin Hella. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Gran Lutheran Church. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Gran Lutheran Church, rural Mayville, ND. Visitation: Will be from 5–7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial: Gran Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Mayville, ND.
