Phyllis Lee Simley Hamilton Tate, 78, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, N.D. She was surrounded by her husband and loving family as her soul journeyed to heaven. Born on June 29, 1933, Phyllis was the first of nine children born to Judith (Lee) and Ingolf Simley. The family lived in Portland, N.D., and moved to Mayville, N.D. when Phyllis was a teenager. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1951. Phyllis married Harold Hamilton, and to this union six children were born. The Hamilton family made their home in Washington state. Harold passed away in October of 1989. Phyllis blessed her parents when she moved back to North Dakota in 1996 and became their kind and loving caregiver. Joe Tate and Phyllis were married at Valley Free Lutheran Church in Portland, N.D. in July of 2007. They resided in Portland, N.D., and enjoyed traveling together, especially to Washington and to the southern United States where they visited family. Phyllis is survived by her husband Joe; children, Cherri Hamilton (Frank Soikowski), Mark (Kate) Hamilton, Judy (Vince) Lipiz, Lorri (Ed) Lanctott, Christie Hamilton, and Linda (Vince) Beedle; stepsons John (Mary) Tate and Patrick Tate; grandchildren Heather, Donna, Vinnie, Justin, Jackie, Doug, Ryan, and Richard; step granddaughters Katherine, Carolyn, and Nichole; great grandchildren Alaina, Elijah, Ryder, Connor, Kolton, and Coen; and siblings Joan (Fran) Headline, Kathy (Gene) Neset, Linda (Len) Marthe, Faye (Charlie) Swenson, David (Sandy) Simley, Paul (Helen) Simley, Luther (Paula) Simley, and Cindy (Bob) Brinkley. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold and her parents. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Valley Free Lutheran Church. Memorial Service: 10:30 AM Saturday, November 5, 2011 with visitation one hour prior to the memorial service at Valley Free Lutheran Church, Portland, ND.
