Miles Wendell Holden

Miles Wendell Holden, 80, of Page, ND, died Tuesday, September, 20, 2011 at the V.A. Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Miles was born July 25, 1931 to Nick and Lela (Peterson) Holden at Ames, Iowa. In 1935 he came to ND with his parents. After graduating from Page High School, he joined the US Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1954. On August 14, 1952 Miles married Delores Walz. Miles had many career moves; first he served his country and later owned a grocery store in Page, sold insurance and was a truck driver for Atlas Van Lines. He also was a janitor for the Page school and then bought the bar in Galesburg, ND. After selling the bar, he returned to Page and was the maintenance manager for the Page Apartments until October 2010. There were many moves to different cities for his family, but each move found new friends and brought new experiences. Miles is survived by his wife of 59 years, Delores of Page; 4 children, Miles Jr. “Nick” (Marsha) of Page, Michael of Bismarck, ND, Melody (Randy) Johnson of Galesburg, and Daniel (Amy) of Chatham, IL; one brother, Virgil Holden of Sonoma, CA; 11 grandchildren, Dani, Carly, Austin, Seth, Jessica, Rachel, Caleb, Ethan, Hannah, Abby and Noah; 2 great-grandchildren, Jeanie Nichole and Sullivan James; and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Zoe and Aiden. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Sidney and Keith; sister, Evelyn Boyd; 2 children, Deidra and Mark; daughter-in-law, Jeanne; and one grandson, Nathan. A husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; Miles is leaving behind many who will feel the loss of his presence in their lives. Memorial Service: 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Page, ND with visitation one hour prior to the memorial service. (Lindsey-Carlson Funeral Home, Page, ND)
