Audrey Erickson, 82, of Mayville, ND, died Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Audrey Nora Koppang was born on January 20, 1929 to Christian and Nora (Grinde) Koppang. She was raised on a farm near Portland, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Roseville Trinity Church, rural Portland. She attended country school and graduated from Mayville High School. She continued her education at Mayville Teacher’s College; teaching school at Morgan School #4 prior to her marriage. On June 26, 1949 she married Lloyd W. Erickson of Galesburg, ND, at Roseville Trinity Church. Together they had 7 children, and raised their family on a farm near Galesburg. The couple moved to Mayville in 1999. Audrey moved into Luther Memorial Home on August 30, 2010. Audrey was a very busy mom, having 7 children in 10 years. She was an active farm wife, knowing and keeping track of all the farming operations. She enjoyed baking for her family; especially brownies, buns, cinnamon rolls, and apple pies. She never let her hands be idle. She made many afghans for the grandchildren and embroidered dozens of dresser scarves and dish towels. Audrey was an active member of Stordahl Lutheran Church of Galesburg. She belonged to Circle and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed her Women’s Bible study and birthday club at Galesburg for many years. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she attended many events for them all. Her faith was strong; she was caring and helped many people. The coffee pot was always on with a plate of cookies to go with it. She loved playing games and she especially liked to WIN! Audrey is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lloyd of Mayville; 7 children, Lyle (Pam) Erickson of West Fargo, ND, Cheryl Bring, of Fargo, ND, Steven (Teresa) Erickson of West Fargo, Donna (Jack) Vadnie of Clifford, ND, Doreen Paulson (Fiancé Gordon Nelson) of Mayville, David Erickson of Galesburg, and Linda (Eric) Knudsvig of Mayville; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Helen Strand and Solveig (Marlin) Flaten both of Portland; and 6 sisters-in-law, Phyllis Koppang, Marilyn Koppang, Judy Koppang, Eleanor Erickson, Della Halvorson and Hazel Berg. She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 brothers, Alton, Victor, Gordon, Myron and Richard Koppang. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Elm River Lutheran Church, Galesburg, ND. Visitation: Will be from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, May 10, 2011, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Elm River Lutheran Church, Galesburg, ND and will resume one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church. Burial: Stordahl Cemetery, Galesburg, ND.
