Janice Marie “Tooka” Borud, 69, of Fargo, ND, died Friday, January 28, 2011 peacefully at her home, after a short battle with cancer under the care of the Hospice of the Red River Valley. Jan was born July 2, 1941 in Cooperstown, ND, the daughter of Gustav and Caroline (Engebtetson) Perchert. She grew up and attended school in Cooperstown. Jan worked as a nurses aid and loved taking care of people. She enjoyed spending time with her family, Kurt and her dog, Chilli. Jan enjoyed nature, fishing, animals of every kind and playing cards. She is survived by her sister: Arlene (Vernon) Vrem of Crookston, MN; a brother: Jerome “Jerry” (Gloria) Perchert of Cave Creek, AZ; and long time companion: Kurt Fettig of Fargo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Borud and parents, Gustav and Caroline Perchert. At the request of Jan, there will be no public services. Burial will take place at the Elm River Cemetery in Galesburg, ND, in the spring.
