Delora Sparrow, 89, of Mayville, ND died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND.
Enah Delora Sparrow was born December 18, 1921 to Albert and Enah (Anderson) Sparrow in Finley, ND. She graduated from Finley High School and later Mayville State Teachers College. She went on to receive a Master Degree from the University of ND in Grand Forks, ND. Delora taught school for many years in Minnesota and North Dakota.
After Delora was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her late 40’s she retired from teaching. She lived with her mother and sister, Mary until their mother’s death. Delora continued to care for her sister Mary and the two of them entered the Hatton Retirement Home in 1997. In 2006 they moved to the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville.
Delora will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and clever wit.
Delora is survived by her two children, Larry (Kari) Clark of Shoreline, WA and Ann (Nathan) Dahl of Stillwater, MN, with whom the family has been blessed in beginning a relationship in recent years; three sisters, Eline Heazlett of Lakefield, MN, Ruth Bachmeier of Irvine, CA and Mary Ann Sparrow of Mayville; sister-in-law, Viola Sparrow of Portland, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and Edward Sparrow; and two sisters, Alvia Sparrow and Maxine Cardiff.
Memorial Service: 1:00 PM Friday, June 3, 2011 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to begin at 11:00 AM.
Burial: Mayville City Cemetery.
